Performance usually becomes an issue once it becomes a problem. Ideally performance is addressed during the design, development and implementation of a system. A proactive approach is nice but not always possible. A typical performance tuning engagement consists of 1 week onsite reviewing all aspects of the environment, gathering specific information about the nature of the problem, and then developing specific recommendations to address these issues. At the end of the initial engagement a detailed trip report will be provided. Benchmarking is a very difficult task. Developing a benchmark that accurately addresses your goals can be very time consuming. Often profile information needs to be collected, custom programs and test data sets be generated, and a method of synchronization between processes be developed. Occasionally third-party products can be used to assist with this effort. Our experienced consultants can help determine the best method of developing a benchmark to suit your specific needs and environment, and then assist with the development and execution of the benchmarks.
